Helping my brother put together a video editing machine. This will be used exclusively for video editing, he will not be playing games on this machine.

I am more versed in gaming rig onfo so I need some help in picking out a cpu and mobo.

I originally thought on a i7-5820k which would require a z99 board and ddr4 ram

But after reading the forums i am now leaning toward a xeon E3 1231 v3 which allows for a z97 board and ddr3 ram

He does this for a hobby not a profession.

ideal chip price would be between $200-$400
