an old/spoilt closed loop like h100i has a pump, radiator,

anyone took the old stuff and turn it into a custom loop?

possible?

There are certain AIO that can, but modify a non upgradable AIO wouldn't be a good Idea :D

I could see reusing that rads but it might be hard since the tubing in AIOs is really small. Honestly no sense using the pump the trouble of trying to connect tubing to it and stuff would be such a hassle and AIO pumps are shit anyways.

It's possible but the pump might not live through a full loop.

yeah, one of my concerns also. so maybe change to a D5 pump and just reused the rads only?

The Swiftek H220X can be modified to work as a custom loop but ships as a closed-loop.

but the problem is that i dont have a h220x or fractal design s36.

i know, but im talking about those that is non upgradable like a x61 or h100i.

maybe not the pump then. just reusing the rads? finding a tube adapter shouldn't be a big problem.

Did your Kraken X61 fail on you? I mean, you could always do that but you'd be better off getting a new AIO instead of spending cash on adapting your old cooler.

I know money is tight for some but I would rather save till you can afford a separate rad. You can get really nice ones from 50-70$ from a good company. My alphacool 240mm 45xt radiator was like $55 on Amazon. I would rather wait on a loop than try to use an AIO rad, how would you even connect the tubing? It's just not worth the trouble honestly.

I'd reuse everything but add an extra pump.

the only thing you can reuse is the rads and fan, using the pump/block would be stupid.. 2 pump in a loop :/ dont know what could happen..

my h100i failed. the pump broke down and the linkage/arm that connects the tube from the rad to the block broke, which render it useless, and i have a spare rad sitting around.

yeah. i was just wondering if it is possible for those who want to save money and reuse the rad, cause not everyone wants to buy new stuff and have old stuff lying around wasting space.

An H55 is a great cooler that is around $50 and will handle your 4690K pretty well.

Nothing bad will happen our break if that's what you're thinking. Plenty of people use two pumps in a loop.

its ok, im using a x61 on my 4690k now. the problem now is i have a spare h100i rad.

ohhh. then i guess i could retain the copper block/pump then.
