so I havew this old  (2008) mac with a dead drive in it. my dad replaced it with a 1tb  and left the other drive alone a couple years ago.

 

today. I tried to put the drive in my pc. and. its not detecting it. any ideas ?

It it's dead... It won't work... Which means it won't be detected...

does it show up in bios?

uh. haven'T checked. but I try devices/ hdd's  and it won'T detect any new changes

Hello there,

If the drive cannot be detected by the BIOS it is most probably dead. If you want to make sure you can use WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics to test the HDD. If the WD DLG detects it there might be a chance to make it work. You can download WD DLG here:

yeah my dad tried that. and apparently he had backups of the drive somewhere... so saving data isin't very important... I was hoping to get some kind of ''dump drive'' out of it 

its dead. might as well open it and take the fun stuff ! (magnets !)
