Will my FX 8350 bottleneck R9 280?
and is FX 8350 still good for gaming?

It will not

 

It's good for gaming; there's better, but it's good.

Yes, it's still good for gaming but there are other options available that are better than a 8350 at the same price range.

Yes it will bottleneck a bit in some games, no it´s not worth it to replace the cpu.

I5-4440 + H81/B85 mobo.

Heck, even an i3 is better in most games and less expensive than an FX8. What people forget or don't factor in with the FX8 is a high end mobo. Without one, your CPU will throttle.

For pure gaming? Probably any locked i5 + cheap mainboard.

Core i5 4690k and msi gaming mobo?
