My actual setup

  • Phenom x6 II 1055T @ 3.2Ghz
  • Cooler Master EVO Plus
  • Asus M5A70 R2.0
  • Asus GTX 680
  • 2 x Vertex 3 SSD 120Gb each
  • 1 Seagate Barracuda 1TB
  • 6GB of generic RAM
  • PSU CX600M

For this new build I´m gonna carry over with the mobo, gpu, ssd, hdd

First batch of new components

FX-8350

Corsair Carbide 540 Black

8GB Of Hyperx RAM @ 1600Mhz

A 2TB HDD

5 x Aerocool Dead Silence 140mm

2 x Aerocool Dead Silence 120mm for the Hyper EVO

Maybe buy 2 of these Samsung S27D590P( wich only on one gonna play games)

Second Batch of upgrades ( Minimun of  5 Monts)

New PSU, been thinkin on the Cooler Master V850

Sleeved Extensions from Aerocool

New GPU maybe a GTX 970 Strix

The third Samsung S27D590

A K70 RGB Keyboard

On what I gonna use the PC?

Mostly gaming/ watch anime/ music/ college

Currently I have a 32" LG TV but the resolution is 1360x736 so def I want 1080p for my main monitor

So why 3 monitors if I´m gonna play only on one?

Well I´m in college so 3 monitors for programs like MatLab, AutoCAD. LabView, LaTeX,  much multitasking, such productivity, wow

Right now my GTX 680 is able to maintain my gaming needs but kinda want to chango to the next gen of GPU´s

Any recomendation is aprecciated, let me know if something is wrong

Thanks!

you should just overclock your current CPU, an 8350 would be a downgrade as it's IPC is inferior to the Phenom chips.

Well there's nothing wrong with it. In fact, unless you're on a budget, I would recommend the 970. It's just not really an AMD build then. :P

I agree, I'm rocking the 1100T and don't plan on upgrading it for another year at least.  I got this on sale right as AMD released the 8150 so all the Phenoms were on sale.  I figure if I wait long enough I can skip Bulldozer all together.

When it comes to AMD its hard to recommend an upgrade....no upgrade path, massive heat, secondary performance

Ryzen 7 5800X3D , Arctic Liquid Freezer  III , Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite , Corsair Vengeance 32GB , Gigabyte RTX 5070Ti ,  WD SN850 / MP44L

The main question is do you need a 970? what games are you going to be running and if anything at 1080P you may as well just get a HD 7950, it's ridiculously cheap and will run whatever you throw at it

At 1080p well ARMA 3, BF4 , COD:AW, Far Cry 4, Borderlands TPS at ultra, thats what I aiming for so... besides the 970 stay cooler and its quieter than a HD 7950

I live in Mexico so the stores where I´m buying all these things doesn´t have the 7950 on stock  I´m only using PCPartpicker for reference, If I order the 7950 like in Amazon the taxes increases the price so much

well I wouldn't get those fans but everything else looks fine. If you're going to upgrade the CPU you should jump to intel, something like a 4690k would be a nice upgrade.

Yeah, most games aside from a very limited number benefit from stronger performance per core, and at the same clock speeds, Phenom II has noticeably better single-threaded performance then FX, due to it having true individual cores rather then the split FPU design of FX chips. An 8 core FX should be considered a (weak) quad core with HT.

R9 280 = 7950

You won't find 7950s anymore because they're no longer in "production". The new batches are now branded as R9 280s, however they're identical cards. I don't know of any "new" R9 280s.

Maximus is waaaaay overkill....a Z97 with everything you want on it and nothing more (options you will never use)...$150 board is more than enough
