Good day to all who read this post. I am going to be having my GCEs or finals this coming November. I plan to work part time during the 6 month break we students have after the exams. I plan to use the money I earned to build a gaming computer which will also be used for video editing and other utilities. Here is a build that I have come up with recently and I would like the community's thoughts on it.

Intel Core i5-4670k

Asus Z87-a

Sapphire HD 7950 (At least until the next gen AMD comes out)

2x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz

1TB WD Black HDD

Corsair G600w

Corsair 500R

CM Hyper 212 Evo

The total cost for this will be approximately $1510 Singapore Dollars. Don't try and convert the price directly into USD because the shipping cost is ridiculous even if I order from a local retailer. I also won't be getting an SSD because I do not really need or want the extra speed when I can get more storage.

I also plan to get the Asus VS239H as a monitor which cost $269 here which is actually not that bad of a price.

So what do you guys think? Is this a good build? And don't try and convince me to get an SSD. I will only get them when they are much less than $1USD/GB

I bothered to ask around and I looked up quite a few benchmarks. Might add in 8GB of RAM in the future though

least you did research

If I had one wish, I would ask for a big enough ass for the whole world to kiss

You can bump down to a 3570k and the cheapest z77 board you can find without losing any noticeable performance while saving money.

No need to get a more expensive psu--a cx600 will do.

Get a WD blue or a seagate barracuda/cheapest 1TB 7200 drive you can find and save a little money. You can fit an ssd in. A samsung 840 120GB would be good. There are other ssds that may be cheaper but I don't know where you're shopping. Are you shopping online? A link would be nice.

I plan to overclock so I don't wanna cheap out on the motherboard. Plus the 3570k is more expensive than the 4670k here for some reason

The lower end z77/87 boards aren't 'cheap'. The quality of the motherboard for overclocking comes into play when you're trying to hit 5ghz. Anything up to 4.6-4.8ghz is perfectly fine with the cheapest z77/87 board around since it will depend more on the chip than the board. (The chip will likely experience problems with overclocking before the motherboard does.)

Save your money and get a cheaper mobo. You should be able to fit an ssd in. Trust me when I say going from an hdd to an ssd is the most noticeable upgrade you can do on a computer.

The only two problem I have with this is the PSU is a bit too weak, don't make the same mistake I made and get a weak PSU because that will come back to haunt you by not delivering the amount of power you may one day need. Especially if you are looking to upgrade this PC regularly, or even just randomly or periodically the PSU will hold you back. Also the Hyper 2, I had a similar model and while it did work and is a great product for the price, I seriously recommend like a Corsair closed loop water cooling kit, you won't regret it. it is completely worth it. Other than that it seems pretty solid, keep us up with the updates and questions!
