Why is there no free software to play bluray's on pc?

cooperb21

Seems weird you have vlc and all these none of them come with bluray support without shit load of modding. Im not even sure if its worth spending 40-60$ i have a bluray drive on my pc but it might be cheaper to play it off ps4 or ps3 they are better or worse quality?

the cost is for the codex to decrypt the blueray. its a way to prevent piracy.

you need anydvd HD to decrypt the movies so vlc can play them... http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvdhd.html

so blueray on pc is expensive compared to a blueray player.

It's just the content producers trying their best to encourage piracy :)

My LG blu-ray drive on my PC came with an old version of PowerDVD to play Blu-Ray movies.

Old version of PowerDVD is better than he new (much less bloated... still big, but not crazy, and does the exact same job, just as good (I tried the last version in trial mode... no difference in image/sound quality.. just this massive program full of crap.. So old version for the win.)
