Switching Computers..;

Hey LTT community i just received a new i7 4790k, z97i-plus mobo from asus, and a 250d case from corsair. I am coming from a z77 i5 2500 to a z97 i7, so can i just switch my ssd into the new computer, or should I wipe my ssd and start over again? Thanks!

Nothing much other than games and stuff like that. Would it be a good idea to just re format it and start clean?

If windows is not on that SSD, you should be just fine plugging it in and having it work. should.

The only thing you should format and reinstall is your OS and programs. Anything else should be fine.

In that case, I would try to move your games to a different hard drive and then format.

Can i just wipe the ssd from within the OS so i do not have to deal with reinstalling windows all over again? I only have 1 SSD, So i can't move my games to another location...

Probably not unless you want to spend over 9000 hours doing so. But I have once successfully moved a hard drive from one computer to another without reinstalling windows or anything at all.

You should be able to format the drive from the windows install.
