Hello.

What is the difference btw Corsair H100i and Corsair H105? Which is better for my CPU?

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K

Thank you very much for replying. :)

The H100i has corsair link, while the H105 is newer and performs better because it has a thicker radiator.

H105 has a thicker rad and I think it also has a better pump.

The h105 is better for you cpu as it performs better however doesn't come with corsair link which is used to monitoring temps, fan speeds, pump speed etc...

is the software necessary? how much more will i be able to OC the cpu with H105 than with the H100i?

no the software isn't necessary. and honestly they perform very closely, you might be able to get an extra 0.1 or 0.2GHz out of your CPU with the h105, depending on your CPU, ambient temps, silicon lottery. however you shouldn't really be pushing your OC to the point where a slightly thicker rad means more overclocking. It would be good to get the h105 and run it at the same OC as you would with the h100i, and just keep the lower temps, rather than pushing your CPU to the max.

so how much would you reccomend me to overclock the 4790K with H105? 4.8 GHz maybe? or less?

I'm gonna say a safe reachable oc is 4.6  However it all depends on your chip, you might be really lucky and get 4.9, or you might be really unlucky and get 3.9Ghz. Also it depends on how high you are willing to let your temps get and your tolerance for fan noise.
