galaxy gear crap?

So my fiance bought me the new galaxy gear and im hugely disappointed in it.

All it does is push notifications. If yiu get more than one text message you have to open your phone to view it.

If you need maps you select the route and then open your phone to view the route.

If yiu select a picture for the background it selects a random picture that you cant change.

It does tell you the time but im not sure i want to recharge a watch every two days if all its going to do is tell me the time.

I was really hoping it would be good and allow me to leave the phone in my pocket but instead i seem to be using the phone to check everything anyway.

Am i asking too much from a smart watch for now? What are your experiences?

That's pretty much how all smart watches are at the moment. Smart watches are reletively new, so it will take manufactures a while before they are "fine tuned".

Wait a few more years and maybe smartwatches will be good by then.

There's the Galaxy Gear S which is like a tiny phone on your wrist- but it'll be liking paying for another phone, including data, text, and talk charges. It's a tiny phone for your phone. Sort of pointless.

What Android Wear does differently: Splits text messages up if you get them from different people and you can see the last 10 or so from each conversation; Navigation can all be done from the wrist with turn by turn and a map view of traffic displaying on the watch and will vibrate differently depending on the turn; you can choose pre set watch faces or a watch face with a background of your choosing; battery doesn't really last any longer than 2 days, I've gotten it to go 3 before but that's rare (wireless charging makes this much less of a hassle though). This is from my experience with the Moto 360 and when I'm using it I really don't have to take my phone out. I don't see any reason to have anything besides Android Wear, especially when they're constantly updating it.
