So I have done my research on this problem, in hope that I would come across a solution that would work but I was not successful, so I am here.

The problem is that no more that 20 mins ago I had my computer running perfectly on my test bench to make sure everything was in working order. My system is:

Cpu: I7-4930K @ stock

Cpu cooler: Corsair H100i

Mobo: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition

Ram: 2x4GB of kingston genesis

Gpu: Gigabyte gtx 970 G1 gaming

Hdd: 750gb WD blue

and I had just installed windows 8.1 pro on the HDD, got the drivers for the gpu installed among the other essentials. I left the computer on the bench for about 2-3 days just in case something arose in that time frame. Nothing had so, I felt it was okay to dismantle the computer from the test bench and put it into the computer case (Corsair 750D). After getting everything connected to the mobo, double checking the connections, I clicked the start button. But this time round, it wouldn't boot let alone post. I went and looked at the post code re-out. And the post code that I read was 00.

Then I went to google and see if there was a solution, found a couple people saying to take it out of the case and try again on a non-conductive surface. So I did just that, right now, and it still is reading out 00. I also have tried moving around my ram to see if it had to do anything with the problem but sadly not. I haven't tried re-seating the cooler and/or the cpu yet but will do so if needed.

The reason I the title reads, "My last hope", in my research I found people saying to the OP of the post that they should RMA the board. And this is my issue, I bought this Mobo used, my budget being limited but i needed a certain kind of power, I resorted to ebay.

ok, calm down...and start by reseting the CMOS i you havnt already done so...there is an error on the motherboard it can be cleared up.

Also make sure the CPU power plug is inserted the right way...so often have i seen people plugin it the wrong way...if it is indeed pluged in the wrong way, unplug from the wall and unplug the cpu power plug and then reset the cmos and after that replug the connector the right way and try again.

I have checked all the connections and they all are connected properly. That includes the cpu power cable, 24 pin and the gpu (8+6 pin). Then I hit the clear cmos button on the back, the board went dark for a couple seconds and light back up. I plugged in the ROG oc panel to get a read out from there for more information, on the oc panel and it displayed "CPU Init". I have no clue what that means but maybe you can shed some light on it and thx for the help, really appreciate it.

CPU init is CPU initialisation as you probably guessed. It should pass extremely quickly however, I'm talking under a second...does that reading stays there and then nothing else happen?

well...reading through this it seems like or troll might be right after all i see a lot of report of users having this ''CPU init'' code problem and it looks like the way to fix it for most of them was to remove the cpu cooler and take out the CPU and look for bent pins...try to straignten them up lightly and re-seat the CPU...i would advise you search google for ''CPU INIT'' and you'll find plenty of forums where people are having this issue...but it looks like you should start by taking the CPU out of the motherboard and inspect the socket.

hmm, my guess would be that you will need to update your bios with a supported one.

Or send it back to asus and let them check it.

finaly a constructive post...well done.

...but he had the machine working on the test bench so the bios does support the CPU.

EDIT: BTW thanks to the mod who took the junk out of this thread...one most realise that when people are having issues they search google and more often than not they land in forum like LTT where they find the answer...thus it's important to have great posting from the comunity.

Okay, thx, I just removed the cpu, looked at the pins and nothing looks abnormal at all, looks perfect actually which is a good in a way and not in another. Now I am going to re-seat the cooler and try booting again. tell you in a couple mins

perfect. clear the CMOS again after re-installing the CPU just to make sure if there has been an error related that it clears up.

sadly I can't send it back, i bought it used so I can't RMA. I don't think…

if it is still under warranty you can always RMA the board to ASUS they don,t care who owns it...they will honnor the warranty of the product if available.

but theres plenty of topics around the web on this ''CPU INIT'' error seems like a lot of ASUS board have this flaw and people are posting trouble shooting guides and ideas all over the place i would start looking at those and trying them out if i where you...

Here is just a quick example taken from tom's hardware forum...just to show you:

This is to help you all out with the CPU INIT error

Here are some steps you can take to fix the problem:

1) Press and hold the CLR CMOS switch for 30 seconds, release, then leave your machine for 3 hours (this will revert all bios settings to default).

2) (After 3 Hours) Press and release your CLR CMOS switch then press the powericon1.png button. If your machine doesn't boot, don't stress. Just keep doing it (press CLR CMOS, press power button) your machine will eventually post. It may take up to 60 times - I know it's a load of crap!

3) Once your computericon1.png posts, enter BIOS immediately and look for the over-voltage options for your memory. Assuming you have DDR2/3 with a good heat spreader (you should if you are using a Maximus), try setting your memory voltage to 1.9V. This should fix your problem and you shouldn't have any problems in the future. You may have to repeat this process once or twice in a year, but hey - that's life when you are playing in the high-end pool!

FYI

----

The notorious CPU INIT error is caused when your CPU is not receiving enough power to initiate. This is because on most high performanceicon1.png RAM modules, they require a slightly higher level of voltage than most motherboards are defaulted to (mobos will default to a maximum of 1.6V for memory generally) when these particular sticks of RAM require a minumum of 1.9V. When your RAM doesn't receive enough power, it will draw what is required from your CPU's power source. This is the reason your CPU will not initiate (and without a CPU you can't use your machine of course) resulting in the CPU INIT error. This is a huge design flaw in ASUS boards which is quite suprising, considering the boards are designed for enthusiasts.

i don't know if you are gonna come back anyway i wish you good luck with this and if you ever find the solution please make sure to tell us what it was.

Also if you experience the RMA procedure with Asus i'd like to know how it went for you

regards.

I do plan to come back, I have so far started on the proposed solution above, I am in the waiting period now of three hours. I will definitely keep you posted on what happens and of any progress or lack of. Thank you for the help, it has helped not just in the computer side of things but with me as well. Going to email the man I purchased the mobo from to see if I can get the receipt to see if there is warranty and then move from there.

you don't need the receipt just call ASUS customer service and they will ask for the serial number on the motherboard and take you from there ;)

They will probably start by trying to help you sort out the issue..
