macbook wont start

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

The problem is that I can't install windows on the partition created by bootcamp. It says that it isn't ntfs.

Then boot into the recovery partition, and select the Mac OS boot disk, wipe your boot camp partition and start again.

So I'll get a macbook pro 13" retina for christmas and I am allowed to set it up since I won't have any internet when I acutally get it.

Since I need windows to run Visual Studio I wanted to install it via Bootcamp. In the first place everything went fine, but when the pc booted into the Windows setup it said that the partition wasn't windows compatible or something like that.

What I did was exiting the setup and shutting the PC down to boot into osx agian.

Now here is the problem: It won't boot into osx. All it says on the screen is "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" I have no idea how to solve this problem and didn't find a single solution on my own.

I hope someone here can help me.

I once had one of these, now I've got this.

Boot into windows and install bootcamp tools. Then click on the icon in the task bar and click reboot in Mac OS.

Alternatively boot into the recovery partition and select the correct startup disk.

I'll try that. Thanks.

You can access disk utility in the recovery partition.  Make sure not to delete the recovery partition and also, make sure to make an OSX disk so you can boot into recovery from the bootable disk if your recovery partition gets all funky.

So I think I just gave up installing windows via bootcamp. I managed to access osx via the drive selector on startup and now I want to get the 20 gigs I reserved for windows back to my main parition.

(I should have wished a Windows notebook in the first place)

I can't delete the partition I wanted to install windows on and I can't add the free space to the main partition.

I'm really sorry for bugging you like that.

Okay, so after looking into osx for another couple of hours I managed to get everything right. I got parallels for 40$ with an education discount (Highschools are the best :D) and managed to install Windows that way. Also after some time I figured out how to repartition the hard drive.

Thanks for the help.
