Last night after work I booted my computer and it showed that one of my RAID0 boot drives had failed. The OS still booted up and I was able to gather the information below.

I've already got both drives backed up, but I was wondering if there's anything I can do to 'repair' the drive/issue before I get a new drive. (P.S. If I have to buy a new drive I won't be running it in RAID0 again).

Thanks,

i would personally do nightly backups and just keep running the drive till it dies then just replace it and load a backup

That's the plan right now. I was mostly wondering if the drive could be salvaged.

I've never had an issue like this and it's strange that the drive still functions perfectly fine.

That looks confusing but the drive hasn't failed, the connection is failing. Unplug and replug your Sata connections again. For some reason the drives have got out of whack and one is only reading at Sata II speeds. Weird. If it truly dies, you can't boot.

I re-plugged the cables in for both of my SSD's. On boot I still get an "Error Occurred" status from my raid controller but now in Intel RST It's running at 6Gb/s.

is your motherboard set to raid mode?

It wouldn't boot if it wasn't.

I marked the drive as normal since I'm getting a 6Gb/s transfer speed again and it booted without errors. I ordered a new drive just in case, but I'll keep my scheduled back-ups running and my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help.

I don't think it's the drive. I think it may be the m/bd raid controller getting flakey. Or there's a problem with the Sata connector(s). Do you have a kink at the cables? A bend that's putting a load on the connectors? Sometimes a too neat cable mgmt. scheme can hurt. Or there's a piece in the way. Something that causes stress.

If none of those WAGs are close redo your setup without the RAID. It will be faster since now the Magician software can work properly on the boot drive. You'll see much better numbers and you now have 2 ssd's to do... something with.

Yes, I'm using my computer right now.

How is that even possible?  If the OS was installed on the RAID 0, and it failed it would not boot.
