Hello guys(and girls), I am new to Linustechtips. And I thought i would make this post introducing myself. I saw under the general discussion that "new members can say hi! here" and I saw "tech related content only please!" So, I'm a little confused because this isn't really about tech content. If this is the wrong spot I am sorry, and please just move the topic.

I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to computers.I actually got my very own PC in Dec 2012. I bought a decent PC for a great price off my friends cousin. Bought a few extra parts, and a new case, then had my friend build my PC in the new case. I didn't know how easy and fascinating it was until i actually got to see it. Since then i'm always looking a different pc parts to upgrade my system and along the lines I found Linus Tech Tips on youtube. I watch Linus Tech Tips all the time and I have learned much more about computers since buying my pc. Today I found this website and this forum, so here i am.

The Rig I originally bought for $350

CPU: Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz

Motherboard: Asus P7H55-M

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470

RAM: 4 GB

Stock CPU Cooler

Pretty Bad Case (I don't know what it was)

Since then I've added these

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670

8 GB Corsair Vengeance Ram

Corsair H80 CPU Cooler

Cooler Master HAF 932 Full tower case

Just curious if i got a good deal on the original PC I bought, and I put the current parts there just in case anyone was curious.

I'm glad to be part of this community now and I can't wait to start talking about computers. :)

Even if it's a 1st gen i7 you still got a good deal for $350. It's not quite future proof but later down the road you can upgrade

I'd say it's a great deal.

1'st gen i7's are about on par with 2nd/3rd gen i5's (2500K/3570K).

both of which are great for gaming and some video editing/3d modeling + animation.

what power supply does it have, typically when there's a deal too good to be true the too good to be true part that gets cheaped out on is the power supply.

I'd say to wait a year or two before upgrading the motherboard + cpu.

just to give intel and AMD to come out with something significantly better. (not to say you wouldn't notice a decent improvement going from a 1st gen to 4th gen i7)

Anyway, don't bust the guy's balls for posting this in what he thought (and what seems) to be the correct place to post it. :P

But this is the correct place...

Well it seems like it should be in off topic seeing as how it really isnt tech. imo
