Do i need an audio card ?

So i just received my Razer Tiamat 2.2 headset which i bought on newegg for $75 :') and the audio isn't as loud as i expected with the regular jacks on my motherboard, well i hooked up my old turtle beach transmitter and surprisingly it boosts the audio by like 50% which sounds amazing but im also scared of blowing the speakers because im not sure if it should be this loud or maybe its louder because im using the digital connection from my mobo(optical cable into turtle beach base) and then audio jack on the output: http://itfgaming.s3.amazonaws.com/2013/01/PX5-Review-1.jpg could this possible blow the speakers and what can i do to boost the audio without using the transmitter and using the standard audio jacks. Do you think i need a sound card ? My mobo is an asus m5a99fx pro r2.0

I got a Xonar DXG just for the headphone amp and I'm really happy with it.  The onboard jacks just weren't able to drive my headphones well enough.  But if the Turtle Beach thingy you have works well then just use that.  If it's loud enough that you're worried about blowing out the speakers then you seriously need to turn it down.  You'll probably blow out your eardrums before the headset.

If you can't get a razer headset loud enough for you then you might be listening to them way to loudly because they are not hard to drive at all.

Well my last headset was the Logitech G930 and these are a lot quieter than them when hooked up regularly for comparison. With the Tiamat 2.2 right now plugged into the audio transmitter i have they will ruble on my head on full volume. Its not too insanely loud but it is at a good loudness level.

Wait, are you saying that a headset is rumbling your head and it's a "good loudness level"?

Please tell me I'm reading this incorrectly.

No im just saying its vibrating a bit and sounds good. Its not physically shaking my head.

I think it's a bit loud if it's vibrating...you're killing your ears man.

I think everyone should have to learn about SPL in school, we learn about the dangers of looking into bright lights (welders, sun , etc) the danger of skin cancer, the danger of electricity, but they don't teach kids today about SPL and hearing loss.   It's not like schools can't afford $30 for basic Meter for demonstrations.

I did not realize the .2 meant 2 drivers for bass.  It's possible that the Turtle Beach transmitter gives some kind of bass boost, which would send your bass heavy cans into bass overload.  If that's the case you might benefit from a sound card that can give a flatter signal with enough power to drive your cans.  You could also try to cancel some bass using software.

Even if the super low frequency doesn't affect your hearing the fact that the drivers are pushing enough air around to rumble on your head means that they'll physically wear out faster than if they weren't rumbling, so that is a concern.  If you enjoy the sound and experience then what I would do in your shoes is try to run them down before the 1 year warranty.
