Hello all.

I plan on adding a side window to an old case of mine, I've looked into methods of adding windows (u-pipe) But I was wondering if it would be advisable to just bolt the window to the case instead? I personally find the u-pipe method kind of ugly, and was wondering if my method would work.

Thanks in advance

Yeah, I've seen the video but the issue is they use the U-Ring to seal the window in, and that doesn't really suit the theme I'm going for.

they have other videos i think where they use some 3m double sided tape. it's really strong and use it a lot.

You can do it with a clean edge method basically but you will need to retouch the edge since you will see bare unfinished metal, note you will need to take your time finishing that edge with a file to get it nice and straight and finished properly. As for mounting you can use double sided tape even for something as heavy as glass but this will give you a small gap between the glass pane and the panel due to the thickness of the tape, if you want no gap silicone works really well.

For the tape method I recommend 3M exterior mounting tape very strong and resistant to warm temperatures, this one is a  higher strength tape able to hold up more weight:
