Avast is definitely not the best.

I personally don't use an Anti-Virus. I just use a Firewall and do a regular malware/virus scan. 

 

Of the ones I have used, Norton is by far the worst in terms of how annoying it is. It just bugs you every 10 minutes and exits you from your game to tell you that it's doing something in the background. It's also very expensive.

I used McAfee for 2 years back when I was a casual plebian and knew nothing. It was great...

Nowadays I run MalwareBytes and Mcafee together.

Norton is certainly the worst mainstream anti-virus program.

Well, they're all about the same; they all take the same information from the same databases.

 

However, in terms of sheer features, Norton has some great features that others just don't offer in Norton 360.

 

 

I use Microsoft Security Essentials though, it's free and doesn't intrude too much.

I don't use antivirus, I do malware scans often and have a firewall.

I've used both Norton and Mcaffe.  If you don't have any viruses, they'll add a non-malicious virus to your computer and remove it again so you think you are getting something from the program.  Personally, malwarebytes is the best.

Windows update is good though, it's really well integrated.

The problem is that if you don't have updates automatically installing, your virus signatures don't get applied and you may end up running with outdated signatures.
