I just bought a samsung 840 evo 120gb Last 5days.
I installed it and Samsung Magician Software

I tested it and here's my results

Its lower than the advertised speeds. Or its low because of the space used? Its only 20GB so maybe the read is affected because there's not much to read? xD

When I checked the Firmware update it says it has the latest firmware so I don't need the update.

Your AHCI Mode isn't active and with what did you connect your SSD to your mobo that's it saying N/A Sata interface?

My results, just done now with the same SSD.

do a test with AS SSD.

http://alex-is.de/PHP/fusion/downloads.php?download_id=9

P.s about switching to AHCI mode, This will not work!

Because Windows will fail to boot then.

You will need to tweak a registry entry "msahci" in the registry first.

Change the start value to "0"

I don't believe that you can upgrade the firmware to the fixed one through Samsung Magician, I think that you need to download the utility separately (how it was for me).

RAPID uses your RAM as cache. Instead of Windows writing to your SSD, it will write to your RAM. Way more faster than SSD. Afterwards, Samsung drivers/software will write from RAM to the SSD. It is recommended to enable RAPID on stable systems as well as battery backup systems (laptops, desktops with UPS).

The first optimization you need to do is enable AHCI. This is a must for an SSD.

How did you achieve THAT kind of results? I can't even get half the speeds. Besides: That speeds are not achievable via SATA. Is it RAPID mode?

Indeed, these are my results with RAPID enabled.

I can't find the AHCI boot mode in my bios :v

Look into page 24 of your manual : http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-970a-ds3p_e.pdf

Don't forget switching this will prevent you to boot Windows if you didn't modify Windows properly before. You need Windows to be able to boot in AHCI mode. And you are going to need AMD drivers for AHCI if not provided by Windows already.
