So I don't exactly feel like upgrading my whole system yet, but I do wish to sli soon, meaning I am going to need a new motherboard. So does anyone know any good 1156 motherboards, 300$ budget, and I live in canada. And for the love of everything that is sacred in colours, stay away from the asus maximus 3.

SLI might bottleneck that CPU?

yee.

@Tagiau, it's really not worth buying a new motherboard for that cpu.

We won't know until I try. With a couple 680's. And plus, I still need a new motherboard. Intel makes nice motherboards, yet this one just isn't doing it anymore.

I agree with @djdwosk97

A CPU upgrade is in order.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

I just need to get rid of the intel board. Mainly because it has blue on it, but also because it is lacking in basic features, such as fan headers. The socket may be out dated, yet it hasn't broken yet. So no point in upgrading.

"Won't know til you try", is not the way to be doing things. If you do that, well either you've wasted a lot of money, or you need to spend more to make it work.

I can't find any 1156 motherboards. They were phased out a couple years ago.

So, seeing as your budget is $300.

Get a $110 Gigabyte Gaming 5 and a $220 4690k and enjoy a great upgrade.

For $300 you can get a Haswell i5+motherboard, which would wreck your 870 and you'd be buying into an already dead platform.

I agree. It's like buying into FX series at this point in time. Doesn't make sense because the platform is dead.
