I have a GTX 970 AMP! Extreme. The thing is shit at overlocking due to voltage and stuff. Plus, it never reaches anything past 1400 no matter what I clock it to. Goddammit Zotac. So I'm selling it. When I do, I'll have enough to get a 980. Which is better for the long run? Will I be able to sell a 980 for a price closer to the MSRP of the 1000 series or should I just go with a different 970? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not Zotac's fault - no card has a guaranteed overclock. They may receive lesser binned chips, but who knows.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ

I'd look at a better-binned 970 like Gigabyte's personally. The difference between the 970 and the 980 doesn't justify the price difference im

Personally i'd get a 970, its better value.

the performance of the 980 doesn't justify its price.

So, I was thinking of GB but it wouldn't match my PC's theme too well (Yes that depends on my purchase even though it makes me sound retarded). I was thinking to maybe go with a reference card  and change the LED to white (like that one build from the WAN Show). Asus would be great too and I could change the fan stickers to my own. I know that GB is silent but that blue is just what kills it. The reference does good OC, though according to this video (the reason I'm selling this piece of shit)

I got 1600mhz stable on my zotac 970 non amp or extrme edition..... How come you cant get more..... Also a 980 isnt worth the cost wait for the rumored 980ti

1600Mhz? Damn son... With how much extra voltage? You won the silicon lottery, my G1 Gaming struggles with 1570Mhz :(
