i read this I had the exact same problem with the same card, turns out it was to do with the PCI-E speed. Make sure the card is working at 16x PCI-E as when I first put the card in it was running at 2x. I took the card out and reseated it, the 970 is now running at 16x and appears to be even faster than before. Not sure why other games worked ok, I was getting 60 fps in Planetside 2 even at 2x. where can i fix it?

If I am correct, your monitor can't even display that many frames per second...Maybe there is a fps limitation but wtf dude over 60 fps the difference is almost not visible at all.

EDIT- Check drivers, and the the PCI slot it must be 16x.Also make sure your cpu isn't bottlenecking (or what you ppl call it) your gpu

It's visible to cs:go servers. You need 120+ fps to play on 128tick rate. And if you have 144Hz monitor hovering over 200 is risky since it dips.

I get really low fps like 200-300 in cs go when i should get wayyy over that

On what settings and what is your processor.

I have 100hours of gameplay on cs:go.I can't argue with you because I don't know but based on other games 60fps are enough.Anyway its probably his cpu, drivers,or the PCI slot

Ye. Based on like BF4 where the tickrate is 32 or cod with it's 16 glory?

Also if you play on 64tick matchmaking or casual ofc then it's okay, not great still.

i think my pcie slot is going 2x but i have no clue where to take it to 16x

Try another game and check. I'm pretty sure your fps is low because you have too high video settings or your cpu is shitty.

I have everything on low and my cpu is

You keep giving us too little. What map what ACTUAL settings. 200-300 is not very low fps.

the default for fps_max is 300.  It will cap your fps at 300.  You can do fps_max 500 if you want it to be unlimited.

Eh, you can feel the lag if it hits the cap, no one caps their fps in cs. fps_max 0 is the way to go.

8 years of counterstrike and every single person I know has left their cap at 300 because there is literally no reason not to.  If you are able to run it, the 200-300 range is just fine.  If you're getting drops that isnt because of the cap, its because something else is wrong.
