Hello!

I ordered some components for BlackFriday.

1 x ($289.99) Intel Core i7-4790K Haswell Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1 $289.99
1 x ($119.99) GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI S $119.99
1 x ($89.99) Thermaltake Toughpower TPD-0750M - SLI/ CrossFire $89.99
1 x ($79.99) OCZ VTX460-25SAT3-240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Fla $79.99
1 x ($54.99) G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 $54.99
1 x (($10.00)) DISCOUNT FOR PROMOTION CODE($10.00)
1 x (($29.99)) DISCOUNT FOR AUTOADD #127661

I will be getting a Noctua NH-D15 and a video card during next 2-3 months. Aiming for a ~150$ video card - most prolly nVidia one (just to give you an idea about the heat generation).

Now I`m looking for a case.
1) Air cooling optimized
2) I would like to be able to fit 200 mm fans on it, 2-3 would be perfect.
3) Don`t want too much plastic, prefer something aluminium made (not necessarily full Al)
4) Would like to have bottom intake, would LOVE to fit a 200 mm fan there.
5) Has to have at least 180 mm available width for the cooler (Noctua power!)
6) You think side intake makes a big difference? What is your experience?

I would like to go and just look at cases and choose one, however that is not really an option.
From your experience, which would fit best my needs?

I also looked at Corsair 540 air series, however for the price there is a lot of plastic and the mounting for the HDDs/SSDs are as crappy as they can get (they break very easily).

Thank you!

Edit:
Budget: ~150$ (can get to 200 IF it`s really nice! )

200mm fan mounts are featured usually on larger cases which tend to have worse airflow than smaller ones with similar fans.

Side intake fans can be beneficial to cooling the motherboard depending on how extreme of an oc you're pushing for. Side exhaust fans next to the graphics card can help remove heat.

The Air 540 has great airflow although it does seem that your parts list would be adequately cooled by just about any half-decent case with the included stock fans.

I forgot to add that I will be getting a few drives in RAID 1. Maybe a pair in RAID 0.

and also that I want the computer to be as silent as possible.

I will be using it for video rendering and photo editing.

Wont be doing aggressive OC thou.

Take a look at the Fractal Design Define R5 it has massive amounts of fan mounts or even radiator mounts if you decide to switch to water cooling later on. And the case is a Mid-tower case that only costs around $119.99 right now.

Budget is ~150 USD as in the original post.

I am in Europe but that`s of little relevance as i can get it.

What do you mean by 'I can get it'?

Ft05? They are 180mm fans.

Ft02 for more hard drive support

I can get it delivered by third party person.

Sry, I`m at work and typing between phone calls. Didn`t get to finish the phrase :)

Ahh. Does it not make a difference in that case or would it add to the cost to have it delivered by a third party?

Check out the silverstone fortress and raven line of cases, although the fortress lineup are aluminium, so they are more what you'll want, the raven cases are steel and plastic. They all fit 180mm fans in them, but they use silverstone air penetrator 181s in them, so have incredibly good airflow. Seriously, the FT02/FT05/RV05 have the best case cooling by a reasonable margin.

No, it wouldn`t add to the cost.

So, the case clean should be around 150. Can get to 200 if it`s a rly rly rly nice one :P

You could wait to order a Silent Base 800 from BeQuiet! or get a case like the Arc Midi R2 and fill it with NF-P14/A14's.

Best pure aircooling cases I'm aware of are the Silverstone FT05, and Corsair Air540.

Ft05 sets the record along with rv05.

I love my ft05. So pretty

Depending on how much crap you put in it, the 540 is only good with better fans.
