I have so cheap mouse pad that is 4 feet wide and a foot and a half tall so it covers my whole desk, it is nice. Soft cost about $20

I personally love smooth cloth-type mousepads as I feel they help give me more precision when I need to do small adjustments on my projects. I'll try to find my mousepad for you and link it at a later time, but not right now, sorry. :)

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

I've personally found that hard mouse pads do feel a little nicer but they tend to be harsher on the feet of your mouse - I noticed an increase in wear when compared to a soft/cloth mouse pad, that being said, it is personal preference.

Brand wise, as much I hate to say this, Razer makes some of the best mouse pads (their other products... let's go with a no-with-a-6ft-pole), their mouse pads are really nice, unfortunately the green doesn't work too well with many mice.

Used both hard and soft-pads and I do prefer soft.

hard is really nice and smooth for the mouse itself but while gaming (I play a lot of shooters, BF4 & CSGO) I tend to get irritated by the fact that it's too smooth. A cloth mousepad has a bit of resistance when moving the mouse which aids a lot with aiming.

I used to have a Razer ExactMat (hard mousepad) with 2 useable sides. I used the "rougher" side but last week I switched to the Roccat Taito King Size 3mm and it's really good.

It's smooth, has just a tiny bit of resistance but something you won't really notice and it's big which I like. I really recommend this mousepad.

Personally I prefer soft mousepads. I find the idea of a hard gaming surface would be useful if you need the fastest possible response time in twitch games, but I don't play those and I find the amount of comfort from the soft pad is easier on my wrist.

I'm using hard right now (SteelSeries 4HD), but will be picking up a soft from the SteelSeries Qck lineup. Never really used a soft, but have no issues with the hard aside from mice feet binding occasionally if you don't give your mouse/pad a wipe every now and then.

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

I'm running a Func Surface 1030 L. It's the first proper hard mousepad that I've gotten and I mostly got it because I was tired of cleaning cloth pads. I got the two sided one because I wasn't sure which one I'd like better, the coarse or the smooth plastic, and because it essentially amounted to getting 2 hard pads for the price of 1.5. As it turned out, the smooth side ended up wearing down with a few VERY noticeable worn spots on it after like 6 months of use. However, I was surprised to find that the coarse side actually doesn't wear, instead it causes the mousefeet on my mouse to wear. Which is kind of awesome, since this means that rather than having to buy new pads as they get worn, as you would with cloth or smoother plastic, I can just buy mousefeet.

Previously, I have used SteelSeries QcK and Qpad CT. Neither of them were bad by any extent, just that cleaning dust and skin from them was a pain. And cleaning or spilling meant that the pad would be unusable for several hours as it had to dry first.

Not sure what will be my next pad, if anything. I might just buy the newer revision of the 1030 with the rubber base and the cord clip.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.
