Hey guys, i'm doing a full year project for my senior level college class for highschool and we had to pick a problem in the world that could be solved with engineering, and we picked to tackle the lack of a fully customizable mouse. Too often have we ran into the problem of finding a mouse that sheerly lacked the qualities that we wanted it to meet. So to remedy that, were not taking the route that major companies are taking by just pumping out tons and tons of mice that have minor customization like weights on most, and then a few having size adjustment like the R.A.T. 7, were going to implement a mouse that has parts that can be connected to a base model that can potentially fit any hand for any grip. Along with that, customizable weights, etc. I want to hear your guys feedback on this if this is a potentially good (or interesting) product that may interest you, because i see nothing else that can fit this niche item in the market as is.

I love my G600, but it is a little bit too short at the front, if it was a little longer before it reached the G buttons it would be a bit better, as with having a layered finger rest like on the func MS-3.

It becomes a jack of all trades, master of none kinda deal. Even with a fully modular build-a-mouse platform, with custom chassis, side panels, buttons, grips, materials, lighting, sensors, weights, etc. I'd feel that it was an inelegant solution. It'd be expensive, too.

My hand doesn't change. It's the same size all the time. So why should I eat the cost of designing a mouse for people that aren't me? We deal with these compromises all the time. I don't need RGB lighting. I'd like a more textured button feel. I want a more elegant braided cable, a certain color. But this thing has 90% of what I want for a reasonable price. How much more are we willing to pay to get that 100%, and will it be worth the cost when the goal is to get that 100% for everyone? Sounds like a waste of resources to me.

I personally am a righty, but do major manufacturers like logitech ever come out with a lefty version of their mice?

I have an MX Revolution right now, I love this mouse but it is finally starting to show it's age.  Unfortunately, even in Logitech's lineup there simply isn't a modern mouse that has all the features the Revolution does, and so I continue to use it.  The Performance MX was built to replace the Revolution, but was ultimately just a more cheaply made version.

I would love to see a mouse that I can tailor to my needs right from the manufacturer.

The intention is good but the concept is flawed from the start.  You cannot make something that will please everyone for a reasonable price.  As mentioned before, everyone has different hands, different grip techniques, different preferences.  Smooth surfaces, shiny surfaces, textured surfaces, customizable grips, lights, bling, optical or laser, light weight or additional weights.  The list goes on.
