i7-3770k

74c after 6 hours of Small FFT's which causes max heat.

I'd maybe push it just a bit further. TMax is 105C, I wouldn't recommend that high though.

Tmax should never be used as a maximum allowed temp in terms of when to ease off an overclock. Software that reads core temp sensors use tCase, which for 3770k and most i7's, is 67.4. Id say max safe temp would be 70, though most people don't like getting above 60.

I'm personally running an i7 920 from 2.6 ghz to 3.9, temps don't get above 62C.

At this point you can just jump to 5.0 straight away... it's not like there is THAT much of a gap anyway...

for 4.8 I was running 79c, I have multiple monitors and HWMonitor was open on another one.

I'd stop there. Or get a better cooler. 79 is rather high.
