Before I pull the trigger on this, I wanna get some input on the scale of the problems from this monitor. From what I've read on the ASUS forums, there seems to be the same couple of breaking problems for many people. I definitely don't want to experience the same horror stories others have been through including their horrible customer service. Now i'm unsure if I should just get a non-gsync 120/144hz or wait for new releases.

On paper it it's great, however I've also read horror stories.

If they are true or not I can't say but dead pixels and some other visual issues are the classics. I don t know if your retailer deals with the RMA like mine does but if not... Don't take the risk.

Yes Asus make fancy stuff but support is not that great, thankfully I never have to deal with them.

i wanted to get this monitor since its the only 144hz/1440 monitor availble where i live

Yea...I was dead set on getting it too until I started reading around. I don't know if it's just blown out of proportion though.

Only one on the market right now actually

This is why I'm not a fan of Asus these days, I have had to deal with them, on several occasions, for multiple products

That being said, keep in mind people tend to exaggerate things a little bit on tech forums. Kind of like that thing with EVGAs new cooler where only 2 of the heatpipes were touching the GPU (because that basically covered the GPU anyway), and people were all like "OMG n00bs, dem guyz sed its like, 1 degree hotter is unaceptable. EVGA suck, worst videya card ever, u wot m8s". I can't see it being drastically bad. Dead pixels do happen with monitors from time to time (Hell my old man received a scratched LCD screen when LCD was first a thing), but it should be a relatively simple RMA

You guys need to remember, the people with good ones wont usually post on forums or write reviews, the majority of them are probably good.

I am also thinking about pulling the trigger on a Swift, but all the horror stories online make me wonder if it's better to wait for more g-sync models and for the technology to mature a bit more.

If you see here:

http://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?175-ROG-Swift-(PG)-ASUS-Gaming-(VG)-LCD-Discussion

And here:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1509599/official-asus-rog-swift-pg278q-owners-club/3220

There a lot's of issues.

Even monitors that are fine out of the box, develop the fuzzy text problem after a month or two of use...

And then there are signal loss problems, flickering...

I just don't know...

Cheers!

I have one and it's great, except for some bad pixel inversion, and G-Sync flicker, and some minor back-light bleed at the edges. Honestly It's awesome but the problems it has does not justify the price tag. I heard the newer shipments of the monitor fixed most of the problems like the pixel inversion, I'm not sure though. I noticed that none of the reviewers mentioned any of these problems, I noticed them in the first few days  . Gsync is pretty good (minus the flicker -.-) but 40 fps is still meh, but its..less meh than before  :P
