What do you have now? 

 

Also, a single R9 290 or GTX 970 would be better than both (with the 290 probably being similarly priced)

I think the general rule is if you can, go with the most powerful card you can afford, rather than 2+ lesser cards.

the GTX770 is a really old series

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I might consider a 970 as they come to around $500 in Australia. Dual 760's costs around $550. BUT DUAL 760'S WOULD LOOK SO COOL!

The higher frames that a 970 can push out looks a hell of a lot better than two 760s in your system :P

Definitely try and step up to the 900 series like everyone is saying. So worth it and much better in the long run than getting 2 760s or a 770.

Top single card allways best.
But when SLI is working, then its great.

Like BF4, 2x 760 (what i have) is working great and can have all on Ultra
But with Farcry4 the sli profil is still not great and broken so i have to disable sli to play that game.

SLI is more work to get it working some time or time needed to disable it or enable it. But when its working for 70-80% of the time, its great and get better performens/price :)

I have dual 760's and they run around the same performace as a gtx 970/ gtx 780, but this is in synthetics where the scaling is good, in the real world there are many cases where it dosent really work that well, so i would just recommend you get one 970, and mabye upgrade later, as they take less power than a 760 xD
