Will this hold up?

So a friend of mine plays LOL, cs:go, and Cod.

I am building him a pc today with a 4690K and R9 280x (he will upgrade the GPU later when he has more money)

CPU will be over clocked to 4Ghz.

Thing is, he will also buy a 144hz monitor, will that CPU and gpu do well to reach 144 fps on those games when in battle in LOL for example.? Or close to that fps. Consistently

Bonus picture of the parts he made just now

R9 280X can push 144fps in lol. Hell my 7870xt (Worse than R9 280x) could push 110-130 consistently so that R9 280x can definitely do the trick

that will be wayyyy more than fine for lol and csgo but it might have a little lower frames in cod, but not by much.

Yeah I thought something like that but look at my pc, I get about 150 fps when in teamfights (being heavy with animations and all)

So I think it would be significantly less with his setup?

Of course his CPU is slightly more powerful but that shouldn't make a difference.

When nothing is happening of course I hit 200+ but when spells start flying...

Interesting...I have about no drops in fps in teamfights

Not really. Even if he drops to 110-120 he's still benefitting from the 144Hz

What, how is that possible. :o

It should drop a significant amount when teamfighting.

At the start when no minions are there I even have 300+ but when minions come it drops to 250 or so.

I mean max graphics :P

thats what i put it at not 1080p though (900p) and 280x is exponentially orders of magnitude more powerful i would say.

Ow.

Well good news.

But the problem is that I need it to be consistent. And in teamfights it drops....

does it? last time i remember that doesnt really happen. I dont play anymore because of the various problems i have with the patcher though

Well on my pc it goes like this:

Game starts, no minions yet, nothing happening: 300+fps

minions start spawning and walking: 250 FPS

Minions start fighting: 220 FPS

When poke is thrown: Still around 200-220 fps

Teamfight: 160 fps or so, it goes way down because of all the sudden spells and everything.

If I was able to CSI enhance your photo, I would have a lot of your personal data lol.

R9 280X will have no problem getting 144 FPS in games like that, only problem being a fish like the Cod might be hard to play.

And what is the difference in performance for the 280x and a normal 290?

About 20%?
