I would say the 280x is on the low-end of the High-end spectrum. I would say 270x is on the high-end of the mid-range spectrum.

Is the R9 280x a high-end GPU !?

And what category does the R9 270X belong to !?

High end is relative. look benchmarks

like my 7950 can play far cry 4 at high/some ultra settings at 60 fps just fine. id consider that high end. yet you can pick them up for 100-150 bucks no problem. and compare it to the 780 ti or something similar? its barely anything.

I'd consider the 280x a decent high end gpu and the 270x a king of the mid-range gpus.

The r9 270x belongs in the high range of the mid tier section (r7 265-r9 280).

the r9 280x belongs at the bottom of the high end cards (r9 285-r9 290x)

270   = 16

270x = 33

280  = 49

280x = 66

285 = 74

290  = 83

290x = 100

295x2 = 125

how is the r9 285 better than the 280x? sure its feature packed, but the r9 285 replaces the 280, not 280x.

Problem is that we can't find them anymore unless they are some bagged out retired mining card on Ebay from a shady seller.

thats why i been going with the 7950 and not 7970, Hoping that miners preferred the 7970. that and i watch out for people that are selling several, like if a seller has a stack of 6 lol.

I seen 5 so far on the classifieds here in the past 2 months. I bought one a while ago, saw someone selling a crossfired set up of them, that went fast, and now theres another that I plan on buying(hopefully) ebay is kind of sketchy when it comes to amd cards, hopefully can find someone to buy a reliable one from.

Found this one on Newegg Refurbished for $170 CND. Not a bad deal but Refurbished cards make me uneasy as I had one that crapped out on me in the past although CFX HD 7950 setup for $320 is an amazing deal of performance for the money and very tempting.

It's not bad if you have a decent PSU. Any decent SLI/CFX certified PSU will run them no problem. Even with and FX 8350 bottle necking the HD 7950s they are still a bit faster than a 780ti running full boar.
