Older gen intel chips never run out of stock? Is this why you guys always say you can upgrade from a i3 to i5 later on even for older sockets?

Remember a wise man once said, "You'll most likely hear/see more bad reviews from products than good, because if they get a good product, they won't bother to write a review, and if they got a bad product, they'll complain about the product" ~ SoftenButterCream

They do. Just takes a while. Why not sell old tech if people buy it.

^ This. Some things like my i5 650 aren't worth it new since they cost $180-$200 still if bought new... But only $70-90 used.

I'm trying to figure out why LGA1156 ITX boards cost so fucking much.

Because if you have a Sandy bridge i5 and u wanna upgrade to an i7, you'd need to get mobo+cpu hashwell, instead of just the cpu. Same thing with Ivy.

depends on just how good they are... I was considering changing to a 3770k because I made a short-sighted choice with buying a 3570k, but a lot of online retailers are either out of stock, or charging $100 dollars over MSRP, and used ones on Ebay are going for MSRP or higher (and there's the question of why someone would even be selling their used 3770k right now, aside from upgrading to x99...). Amazon dropped it down to $360 recently, but I'm better off just waiting for broadwell or whatever AMD is cooking right now.
