Does anyone know anything about this peltier element?

UselessBread

I have these two Peltier thermoelectric coolers lying around. I want to know If I can power this using my HX750. Not for cooling my CPU, but for science!

A quick google search revealed nothing.

Also I don't know where this thing is from.

For Science! But I have no idea what they are, care to shed any light on the situation?

They use the powers of physics and electricity, especially the peltier effect to turn one side cold, while heating the other side up. Don't really know how the physics work.

But heat gets transported from one side to the other.

It is also possible to generate energy using this.

Wikipedia

The guy in the video was powering his with a PSU, I'll try that.

Depending on the model the can use quiet a bit of power, but nothing that your PSU can't handle. They are usually around 50-150+ Watts.

Almost all are 12 volt,

CPU: AMD 3950x Mobo: MSI B550 RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: Asus 3080 Strix PSU: Superflower Leadex 3 720w Case: BeQuiet 500DX

Storage: 2TB SSD + 4TB HDD Audio: SMSL 793ii -> HiFiman HE-400 + Mission MS-50 Speakers

Should I give it 12V or 5V from a molex?

I personally would use 1 or maybe 2 molex connectors and have the 12v being utilised

Give it 12 volts, I would use a PCIe cable just to be on the safe side. Might burn out the molex.

(for what I read, this is use to charge batteries)

It can be used for that too ,but not really that useful.

I think it is for the best if I try this with a PSU I don't care about. I will see if I can find any.
