Hi, so I know that this is going to sound like a weird question, but can I use wire ties to hold down a motherboard temporarily without shorting it out? Well I suppose that they are actually twist ties. They are somewhat insulated with paper/cardboard, but I was wondering if it was safe, or a conductive hazard. Can anyone help?

I think that you'd be fine from a conductive standpoint, but I wouldn't trust them to hold a motherboard in place reliably enough in the first place.

Let's wait for someone with more expertise to reply.

Should be fine, as long as it's not bare metal and there's some reliable insulator around it, it's fine.

IF you are not sure, use cardboard to be sure about insulation. And whatever you do, don't give it power. Also try to keep it secure, yes i know it's temporarily but don't let it move too much because there can be parts around it that can scratch the motherboard.

I would be very nervous of using anything other than the correct screws. You dont want the board to move at all otherwise irreparable damage could happen

As long as its not bare metal. Also you shoulllld be fine but dont go shaking ur case or ogre testing it. And maybe put something non conductive behind the mobo and the case(foam, wadded up newspaper etc) so it doesnt contact the case and short out.
