I just bought my coputer. I bougt 2 gtx 970 with sli. But, if you have sli. Can you use the outputs on both cards? Or is one of them output and the other card useless?

If you have 1 monitor, use the output of the top card. If you have multiple, still run all outputs from the top card. Using 2 cables per monitor per GPU is a waste.

yes. No benefit though and it might cause recognition issues.

I know you can use both cards outputs when in surround mode. In just extended desktop mode, I'm not so sure. You might only be able to use 1 card's outputs in extended desktop mode.
