7870 vs 7870XT (Tahiti vs Pitcairn)

I have heard the there are 2 different chipsets for the 7870. I need it for around £170 and it will be paired with a FX-6300.

 

Thoughts and differences would be greatly appreciated!

This is a bit off topic but why a 1600x1200 monitor? A 7870 would be great for 1080p

I just got it for free a few years ago and have no need to change it since. The viewing angles are great as well. I will probably be buying a 1080p monitor in the next year or so anyway.

The 7870 XT performs closer to a 7950. Both 7870 and the 7870 XT are great value card, get the one you can afford ;)

Tahiti is better(tahiti le in this case) think of the 7870 xt as a 7930. It is just not binned as high as the other tahiti cards.
