Good PWM fan splitter? good fan config for cool desktop?

legendnb

Yeah.

1.Good PWM fan splitter? software/hardware controlled?

2.good fan configuration for desktop case?

-Pull air in from front/top, push out from bottom/back?

just some discussion~

This is a great little fan splitter, I believe it is USB controlled, and it looks like the one linus used in his watercooled rig build he did.

also 3pin, although it has a y splitter for 4pin fan...

im currently using nzxt sentry mesh with the sides cut off for the 4pin to fit into the 3pin. (fyi sentry mesh is a bay drive controlled.)

Pull air from Front/Bot, exhaust Top/Back. Just hope that the Front/bot is filtered, or the dust is real.

Does it matter if its 3 or 4 pin if its software controlled either way?

I believe the Corsair Link is 4 pin but everyone hates the Link software so take that for what its worth.

1. If you just need a fan splitter, ModMyToys splitters are pretty awesome. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/23518/ele-1300/4-Pin_PWM_Power_Distribution_PCB_6x_Way_Block_MMT-PCB-4P-64P.html

1 (Cont.). As for actual control, the above will work if you just plug it into a mobo and then you can use on board control although to run a lot of fans you will need to buy low wattage fans like the NF-F12's (0.6W each). If you want a separate controller without spending a ton Lamptron makes a lot of decent options. If you want absolute control with a lot of devices and sensor Aquacomputer Aquaros 6.

2. Depends on the case and where the case is going to be, but typically In through front bottom and out top back. Assuming that the front bottom are dust filtered and that the computers is on a hard clean surface, not carpet.

doesn't matter. but I've a ton of pwm fan on hand which cannot fit into standard 3pin fan splitter.

dust will always be a problem. thats why every 4month i have to clean up once.

especially if you stay in a industrial area like me. the dust is a real problem.

neat.

the modmytoy splitter is perfect! HAHAHA. considering the price and functionality :)

im using a corsair carbide air 540. just wondering what are the options. but just incase, im gonna go buy some fan grill and dust filter. :D

If you plug it into a motherboard fan header, just make sure you don't overload the header. Most on-board fan headers I have seen range somewhere between 10-15W, but its different from board to board. You can do damage if you hook up enough fans that they pull a higher wattage than what the header can supply.

Also just a heads up ModMyToys makes a bunch of different sizes if you need less/more fans than a 6 way splitter.

PWM splitter: http://www.gelidsolutions.com/products/index.php?lid=2&cid=11&id=63

Power from molex, no risk of overloading.

Just hook it up to motherboard headers..

just some discussion~

I would suggest two swiftech PWM splitters controlled via the motherboard's built in software, if you want to have control of two zones in your computer, a little bit overkill but very effective:

Does it matter if its 3 or 4 pin if its software controlled either way?

I believe the Corsair Link is 4 pin but everyone hates the Link software so take that for what its worth.

PWM usually five more granular control and lower fan speeds, it's one of the main reasons people buy Noctua Industrial fans that are 2000RPM but with PWM which has an ultra low speed setting

this is by far one of the nicest/most functional splitter i've seen, and its not even that expensive.about 10usd?

Swiftech usually has things at fairly reasonable prices, but just to let you know that splitter only works via 4 pin if you plug in a 3 pin it will run at 12V from the molex, just something to be aware of.

yeah thanks for the heads up. i knew that. thats why i was looking for a PWM splitter. cause all fans i have are pwm fans from my old rig which has 8 pwm fan connector....

oh man i miss my asus rampage.
