Hello everyone,

I am building a gaming pc. this is my first build ever and I want to get some opinions on if there is anything I am overlooking or anything i should change. I am looking to spend about 3k for the whole build minus the tv i am going to use as a monitor. I am brand new to pc gaming and am wanting to play star citizen and any other games i may feel like playing preferebly at 4k. I know i am over doing on somethings like the power supply. For a monitor i am going to be buying either a 65" 4k sony tv or 70" 4k visio tv. I appreciate any help i may get.

Get the asus PB287Q for a monitor TV's are usually arse for gaming, or if you want ROG Swift its the best gaming monitor on the market.

PSU is overkill

why 4 HDD's.... get a 2tb WD Black

My PC

TV for gaming is not really a good choice. Get ROG Swift.

Get a keyboard from CM or Razer.

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

Get the swiftech h220x or the nzxt x61, an sshd, and the psu is overkill ;)

Oh, also the swift will be the best monitor anyway ^^

And u dont need 32gb of ram, just get 16 (that u r not gonna use anyway xD)

What the other guy said, the psu is major overkill.

If I had to guess I'd say the total power usage is within 500w, which I say get a 650-700 watt psu.

Linus made a video discussing this, talking about how people try to buy massive psus just "to be sure" when all that does is lowers the power efficiency. you should get something close to what you're actually using. Like within 100+ of the amount you're using.

Thank you everyone for your advise

The main reason why i was looking to use a tv for gaming is because i don't really have a space for a true computer table in my small studio apartment where i can put a monitor and everything really well. I was just going to connect the tv to computer via an hdmi. I also wanted 4k video for this. I understand that the power unit is majorly over powered for this. The main reason i chose that one is because i have read nothing but good things about it. I also wanted a power supply that when i upgrade to a 3 or 4 way setup with a  8 core I7 processor I didn't want to have to upgrade again.

I was told it would be better to get multiple small hard drives and put them together in raid 0 for faster load times

This has an i5 insted of the i7 because i7s are useless for gaming. 1TB HDDs are not that much more expensive than 500Gb so there are 1TB drives now. Got a mechanical keyboard now that you could afford it and 8Gb of ram because 16GB is pointless for gaming

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?
