Sonic Generations with a PS3 controller?

Go to solution Solved by minibois,

Unfortunately I really can't help. I've only tried for about a hour over a year ago trying to test my brothers controller. I couldn't get the analog sticks to work with it, but all the buttons worked fine... The controller did work properly on ps3 so it wasn't an issue with the sticks themselves.

Well MotionJoy can't even find my controller!

I'll look around the web for answers and maybe start a different topic tomorrow..

Alright, I got a PS3 controller to work.

I installed MotionJoy (I didn't have it anymore), ran it and it didn't find my controller.

I went into Driver Updates and chose the only one available. Windows gave me and warning, but I went on.

After that it was able to find my controller. I had to set it up as Xbox 360 controller emulation, because that natively works in more games.

So now I can play Sonic Generations with my PS3 controller!

Haven't tried the racing game though

So I bought Sonic Generations today in the Humble Bundle and was wondering if I could use my DualShock3 controller in it.

With or without the help of something like MotionJoy (Preferably without).

Maybe I should just get a Xbox 360 controller for Christmas if it doesn't work..

Also, can I use a PS3/Xbox 360 controller for Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed?

I'm pretty sure you'll need some 3rd party program for the dualshock 3 to work on pc. A 360pad does work for both so it might be a good idea if you have issues with getting the ds3 to work. Though I'd be wary of motioninjoy, I never got it to work properly and when I looked up further I found a lot of people reporting issues. Don't know if there are any better alternatives though.

The 360 controller worked natively when I used it.

PS3 seems to be better with motionjoy.

Right, so I just installed MotionJoy and I am already experiencing problems.

I installed it years ago and it didn't work because of the same reason and now it's happening again..

I have my DS3 connected via a USB cable to the back of my PC, the lights are flashing.. Meaning it is charging.

However, MotionJoy does NOT detect it, making it un usable in that program.

I have not seen exactly the same problem I have, but I have only seen talk about a USB Bluetooth dongle being used for connecting the controller to your PC.

Does either one of you know what I did wrong? Would this work?
