7.86gb usable?

Go to solution Solved by kichilron,

but my lappy is running 310m (i know i know it's equivalent to integrated graphics)

Even if you have a dedicated GPU in your laptop you can have integrated graphics to save power.

Can anyone tell me why is my lap top not using the full 8gb that i swapped out for? My laptop is the fujitsu sh560

I also swapped the hard drive out for a 840 evo.

Running windows 64bit too

Odds are your integrated graphics is reserving 128mb of RAM.

Not really.

OP, it's probably your integrated graphics. These are known to take a bit of your RAM.

but my lappy is running 310m (i know i know it's equivalent to integrated graphics)

The same reason a 500gb hard drive only has like 460 gigs of space.

Nope, Hard drives have that lower space amount due to how the capacity is calculated (1000MB = 1GB instead of 1024MB = 1GB, then when its used in your computer it still reads 1GB as 1024MB, meaning it shows a lower storage amount on the disk).

It is most likely integrated graphics that are using up that little bit of it.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

It's happened to me before as well:

32GB (31GB usable) or sometimes 30.5GB usable

Just recently re-installed my OS so it's not appearing anymore.

I'd say some is allocated to integrated even if its not being used. But don't worry about it it's 1 less chrome tab you can open ;)
