Hi guys. Just starting this topic to let yall share about your past experiences with bullies. They do not have to be physical bullies who smack you around. They can also be people who like to treat others like crap just because they perceive themselves as superior. Those type of bullies are the ones I absolutely detest. So please share your experiences :)

Tbh I'm pretty lucky. I've only gotten bullied once, and even then it was so minor. I got called "pencil boy" in grade 9 for being that one kid who brought tons of pencils to class to get ready. But by then I was in a lower level class and switched out to the upper level so it quickly didn't become an issue. My neighbourhood has been good to me.

That's not too bad. How did you deal with it?

All I think about when I hear bullies is HOUSE MD.

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.

Edited it. Pretty much I ignored it. It didn't really bother me too much. In the end even if I didn't switch out, it would've just been a minor issue.

@Brandenhee from what my dad says, bullying in Singapore is pretty rare because of how strict the teachers are. Is that still true now? Or was it ever true?

If you have any family members then you probably have been bullied like crazy. Honestly I can't stand mine they try or maybe they just don't realize but half the things they say is bullying. But maybe that is just me.

Sorry OP off top with this post.

Anyhow, yeah Neil deGrasse Tyson singlehandedly inspired me to enrol in an aerospace engineering program. He really is very inspirational. I hope to meet him one day.

A friend of mine was bullied a lot. No reason other than being short and having a quick temper. Wasn't a nerd or anything, just an average redneck like me.

I never really made a lot of enemies, and people didn't want to be my enemy. Never ended well. At the same time as I didn't take any insults, You about had to punch me to make me angry enough to do something. I encourage people to back up their words.  Most knew not to.

I was when I was really young, but that didn't last. It's a size an attitude thing for me. I'm much more fortune than a lot of others. Since I was bullied when I was really young, I never really bullied others when I was older and larger. I knew how to get on peoples good side anyway, and if you are on everyone's good side, people don't want to do shit to you if that means angering a whole group of people.

I think people who were bullied at some point, if they don't hate the world, are probably much nice to others when they are in a position of power. Just my 0.02c

Either that or they get a superiority obsession and become a terrible boss or politician or something.

Grade 4 to grade 6 was just utter hell.

And no one would do anything about it. So it messed me up real good sadly.

Hahahahaha bullying is rare? Well in Singapore we have neighbourhood schools and sort of elitist schools. In neighbouhood schools, there are the gangsterish type of individuals who form street gangs. Those kids are usually the ones who do the physical bullying. In singapore, the emotional bullies are the more common types.

Damn sounds like a shit hole right now. Always makes me wonder why my dad reminisces Singapore so often.

In general Singapore is a good place tho. It really depends on the company you keep.

I was never really on the recieving end of the issue. However, I remember this one kid back in highschool, who was really, really hard not to make fun of. He was the typical type of bully himself, only that he didn't have any friends and wasn't really in the position to bully anyone. He was from a rich family and he'd always be bragging about his money and trying to make himself look superior to others by being condescending and overall just unbearable. To this day I'm still conflicted over whether or not I was bullying him or if he just had it coming. The end of it was that everybody hated him and was making fun of him, which he compensated for by driving his porsche around school 2 hours a day and showing off $1000+ reciepts from restaurants to everybody. I kind of feel sorry for him now, but then again I can't imagine a world where this guy wouldn't have been made fun of, given the way he acted.
