Well I just installed windows 8 pro to my new pc and installed all the drivers for my mobo etc but a few centimetres of the screen on each side is cut off and for 1080p it seems pretty fuzzy. I'm using HDMI and i have it connected to an EVGA 980 superclocked video card. I have tried to set my own res but that only made the issue worse and if I go any lower than 1080p (on the windows adjust resolution app) I get about an inch of black all around the screen.

Have you tried it with a different type of cable? (Like DVI or DisplayPort).

It's overscanning or underscanning, because it think's it's a TV due to use of HDMI.
