Lightest antivirus

lastshot

it can be paid or free just looking for what i need

There are a lot of mixed emotions about the lightest antivirus out there so i want to come to a unified conclusion

The reason im looking for a fast, slim anti virus is because i dont have the best system and i do professional work on it and every mb of ram i can get would be amazing!

I know computers pretty well. I am not that venerable to viruses, so i do not need some protect your computer and your dog and your mom

Thank you for your help.

Most AV only chew up lots of performance when running active scans.

MS Security Essentials is pretty light, and AVG is also devent - but has gotten more resource hungry in recent years.

I have folks running AVG on old single cores with 512MB ram, and it doesnt bother it much when AVG is idle.

McAfee anti-virus best anti virus out there. (Jk NEVER GET mcAfee) as for an actual antivirus i heard kaspersky antivirus was very good and very light. But I have not tested it. I currently use norton 360 and have no issues with it.

Lightest, as in resource usage? I haven't used a lot of the newer solutions out there, but I've been using ESET for a few years now.

Per Wikipedia, "ESET makes extensive use of assembly language in its codebase, reducing system requirements and disk space utilization."

I just use windows defender and malware bytes, run a full scan once a week.  Every antivirus has it's flaws, unless you are dong silly things (like visiting random porn sites and clicking ads) you don't need anything special.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.
