$1500 Budget Build

tikonux

Hey all! I'm picking out parts and I'm planning to buy them ASAP, at least by tonight before prices go back up. What do you think of the build?

Original: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8CM3dC

Updated 1: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/F6mxt6

Updated 2: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nrPzWZ

$1163 of those parts + $130 for this full tower case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160

Total price being $1293.19

This will be my very first build, so please help me out with some feedback, suggestions, and thoughts!! And I'm concern with the PSU being 650W. Should I get something higher?

The only thing I would change is the PSU, change it to the EVGA G2 750W for not only one of the best PSU's but also for great headroom/stability for OC'ing.

This build gets an A- from me. I want to see a CPU cooler. NH-D15, H100i, H105, H110, Kraken X61 are ones to look at

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

Hey thanks for the response! I was wondering if I needed a 700W+ ! Will change that. As for the CPU cooler, I was thinking of just using the stock fan cooler because I'm not planning to OC the CPU any time soon. Do you think that's fine? Or should I just get an after market cooler?

You don't NEED 700W+. In fact a 600W will do even for 2-way SLI on a GTX 970. It's just that the EVGA G2 750W (Or EVGA B2 750W) are amazing value PSU's and the EVGA G2 750 has some impeccable stability for great OC's

stock fans usually arent to good, but you could get a cheap aftermarket air cooler like the hyper 212 evo and be fine

@tikonux

Also I just noticed you have room for more. You might want to look into the GTX 980 G1 Gaming

Good build. Are you going to be doing things like video editing or rendering. If you're just gaming, get a 4690K. 4790K offers no benifit to gaming. Also if your gaming you only need 8GB of ram but i would keep the 16GB because thats pretty cheap for 16GB. ALso the PSU is fine

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

Shoot. I guess I'm just getting a gaming laptop instead for $1500:

It's just that purchasing these parts are going to be complicated buying from different retailers and I won't have time to build, plus, I'm on the go pretty much. Maybe next year, I'll build one! So does this gaming laptop seem fine?
