Sorry for making all these posts. I've finally settled on a 970 but theres 2 versions of the Gigabyte windforce. The g1 or the reg one? The g1 gaming edition is 50$ more but from what i heard it comes with a binned chip so it OC's much higher than the reg gigabyte gtx 970? How much better? will i still be able to achieve say 1500mhz with the reg Gigabyte windforce gtx 970?

Well i know the differences between the two cards

Windforce 3 gtx970 : Plastic shroud around the fans , no back plate , only 2 heatpipes

G1 Gaming gtx970 : Metal shroud , Backplate , 4-5 heat pipes ( cant remember how many ) , higher Clock speeds

I have the windforce card , i should have bought the G1.....

EDIT both cards should reach 1500mhz on the core , BUT i have had issues OC'ing my windforce card , so i have left it stock

My Pc Specs

CPU : AMD FX-8350 @stock w/Noctua NH D-14   Mobo: Asus M5A99FX    Ram : 16gb Corsair XMS3 @1600mhz    GPU : Gigabyte GTX970 Windforce OC 4GB @1429mhz   SSD: Sandisk X110 256gb    Case: Be Quiet Silent Base 800 Windowed  PSU: EVGA 850w g2  Peripherals : Corsair K70 w/Red Switches , Logitech G502 , Samsung SyncMaster S22B300 (1920x1080) , Ttesports Shock one headset , Phone : HTC one A9

Nope , no OC on my card , ir runs at 1329 on the core , max i have seen it go in games was 63c , and yes the OC capabilities will be different with them , the G1 will OC higher and will be cooler

another complaint i heard was the lack of a back plate. The length of the card makes it droop? is this true and if so how bad is it?

Yea there is a tiny bit of droop to my windforce card , really not that much tho

If you want to OC go with the G1 gtx970

if you just wanna put the card in and play games , get the Windforce gtx970
