How does this gaming pc look? I want to stay around the $1000 mark. Is there anything I should change? Thanks for all the suggestions!

  1. The 970 doesn't have a price on it because I'm getting it for Christmas. (I'm getting the reference cooler)

I would say:

- Difference case

- H100i at least (Single rads are meh)

- Possible I7 because you have room for it

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

looks good, but i would change the cooler. The h80i is not any better than your average air cooler.

What case would you get?

  • Black
  • No window
  • Mid tower

The reason there isn't a dual rad because it doesn't fit in the case I chose, and I'll look into the i7.

Something to consider if you want to save some cash instead of getting windows 8.1 you could always go for windows 10 technical preview for a few months till they announce windows 10 and what version you have to have to get the free upgrade to it then purchase that version of windows. I know you would think that windows 8.1 would get the free upgrade but microsoft has said and retracted multiple times which version of windows will get the free upgrade so it would be worth setting back and waiting for an actual confirmation before spending the $100 for an OS.
