4k videos on youtube?

that's a respectable list. Try any mmorpgs? I am into those a lot so I would like to get a rough idea.

Sorry i'm not really into those. These one game i use to play is Star Trek online, but i haven't played it on the 4k monitor. I got bored of online games once the trolls took over. I prefer to play with mates, on a sofa either split screen or by passing around the controller. (Yes controller on a pc. I use the Xbox one and Xbox 360 controllers)

Ok guys i've done a little bit of testing and i've come across something odd that makes me think it may be an issue with the way Youtube is streaming. If i watch the video on Youtube, i get overall CPU utilization of about 80%. However, if i download the video and watch it, i'm getting overall CPU Utilization of only 30%. Also, Using Windows Resource Monitor, it would appear that YouTube 4K streaming is using all 8 Cores @4.5ghz, at 80% utilization, (and for some reason the CPU is only boosting to 4.3ghz. I prefer to keep C-states on if possible to reduce energy usage due to the high power usage of my rig at load ) whereas a downloaded video only uses 4 cores at 50% utilization and 4 cores at 30%. My theory is that Windows is better leveraging GPU and CPU.

That's probably your internet also do you even have a 4k monitor?

It cannot be his connection, if that was the case the video would buffer.

  • 1 year later...

I had similar issue, it went away after reinstalling system.

first had that with waterfox while edge was displaying fine and it was stuttering on waterfox in full screen mode only 4k video on youtube.

then chrome was stuttering again.

after system reinstalling it is all fine now.
