I'm not quite sure if the power supply I plan on getting will fit inside my case. The specifications pages for either don't help very much as far as measurements go, nor did a spot of Googling.
The offending case would be the Thermaltake Chaser Mk1 and the PSU, the Corsair AX1500i

Little help?

With that rig, an AX860 will do fine. Don't bother getting the AX1500i unless you have like 10 980s in SLI.

The build that you would find in my Signature! The EVO Blue 850W isn't cutting it, unfortunately.

That might be possible in the near future, or more than two at least, if funds go well.

Yes it will fit but i would recomand a 1200 watt you will never you 1500 watts unless you go 4 way with 980's

Thank you for the recommendation. But this just a starting point, there will be many an upgrade in the near future.

With your CPU you can't go past more than 2 980s.

980s are less than 200w TDP, the i7-4790k is also less than 200w TDP, that's less than 1,000w needed for quad-sli, which isn't possible unless OP gets a 5930k+X99 Motherboard

Don't go over 1,000W. Get a good quality PSU instead.

850W should do just fine. Unless you can get the 1500W unit really cheap i wouldn't bother. Get a better quality 850W PSU.

Visually you look like you are good to go. Visually

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. What you on about ? You can run 3 or 4 way SLI on Z97 with some Motherboards.

You'd be really stupid to put 4way SLI on a Z97 board.

Not really. The Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming G1 can run 4 way SLI at x8/x8/x8/x8.

Scaling is so bad you'r probably benefit more from 3 way SLI and a 980 as PhysX.

Yes but the processor he is using doesn't have enough PCI Express lanes to support a 4 way SLI set-up. Only 16 lanes on the i7-4790k

A 5930k, and a ASUS Rampage V Extreme sound good? Which means I would need a different case because the Chaser Mk1 wouldn't be able to fit an E-ATX sized motherboard. Gotta get better RAM too.

Your current cpu is more than enough. Like i mentioned in my post above, some of the high end Z97 boards can do 3 or 4 way SLI at x8/x8/x8/x8.

You would also need to buy DDR4 Ram if you went with a 5930K.

This Gigabyte does 4 way SLI - http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz97xgaminggt
