No Splash Screen?

Go to solution Solved by Elbstrand,

Ideas:

  • CMOS Reset
  • Getting rid of the Graphicscard for the update (use another or internal if you got one)

Recently I upgraded my graphics card from a EVGA 650ti SSC edition to a 7870 powercolor pcs+ LE. The problem is once I upgraded My Post screen on my Asrock 970 extreme 3 simply disapeared, and won't display on screen before booting straight into windows 7. Any speculation as to why this may be happening? I'd like to get into my UEFI BIOS for future upgrades. My guess is that on powercolor's website they suggested updating your BIOS to a version past October 2012 ish. The version I currently have BIOS version 1.6 it is not after October 2012, and does not suport "UEFI GOP."  Apparantly a feature enabled on this card, and the newer BIOS 1.7.

What should i do to start troubleshooting this problem?

As soon as you turn on your computer, spam whatever key you use to get into the BIOS. Like, immediately starting. Also, you can reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for about 10ish seconds. That should allow you to get back into the BIOS.

Yes, I know how to get into the BIOS. I've tried spamming the key to get into the bios right as I start the start up the pc, but it doesn't even take me into BIOS. The key that lights up indicating the motherboard has recognized a usb device when the computer boots up no longer lights up. Thus, it doesn't take me into the BIOS. Also, SHould i just clear the CMOS and see what happens? Or put the old card in and get into the BIOS update it, and reswap cards?

Try getting into the BIOS with the other card first.

It seems UEFI did enable anyway, hence the skipping the bios part.

This only applies to W8 computers. OP is running W7.

FIXED IT! :D thanks for the ideas, I got it figured out.

1. pulled out the newer card and slapped in the old card

2. BIOS splash screen came up and i was able to hit delete

3. BIOS update to the latest 1.7 w/ updated UEFI GOP and USB code

4. swapped out the cards again and fingers crossed the thing posts, but it's an extremely fast splash. You can't even see the splash screen with the newer card.

5. the light indicating on the usb keyboard my CM quickfire rapid lit up.

6. Bitch slapped the delete button, and got into the BIOS with the newer card installed and an updated BIOS

7. New card, and new BIOS. Is this a Win, Win? Only time will tell.

Sorry Godly I could only pick one person for the best answer. Yours was good, but ee-nee-mi-nee-mo didn't work in your favor :/
