So I just received my new SSD and I decided to try out Windows 8. I bought an upgrade version of it and managed to get it to work after a bit of hassling.

So its only been like an hour after installing it, I have installed Chrome and Ccleaner on it. But now whenever I boot it up I get 'Preparing Automatic Repair'. This never disappears. I left it the first time for nearly 2 hours! yet still nothing, no progress bar or sign that it is actually doing something :(

What do you suggest I do? I am still able to see the SSD when I boot into my HDD with Win7 on it... Should I format my SSD and just re-install Win8?

That sounds like your best bet right now - since you only just installed it and don't have much time invested in it. Wipe and re-install....
