G1 vs EVGA?

Go to solution Solved by brownninja97,

less noise. Thats about it.

Evga has slightly better customer service but not to the point where id change.

id get the cheaper card if i was you

Hopefully the last post I'll make today....

Since I'm not planing to do any heavy OCing, is there any benefit to the G1? Especially compared to the (-$20) ACX 2.0 Superclock?

All I'm really looking for is a simple (i.e. less useless features/eye candy) GPU for a good value, has good customer support, etc.

Thanks... again.

"Normandy" i7 4790K - GTX 970 - Phantom 410 (Gun metal) - Z97 Extreme4 (asrock) - 128GB Crucial SSD - 1TB WD HDD - H60 Refurb. - 7 case fans | G710+ Keyboard, G230 Headset, Acer GN246HL Monitor.

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

G1 has binned chips so they are very good for overclocking. Worth it if you don't mind paying the extra $20. Also, not heard much good from EVGAs GTX 9XX series.

EDIT: Just read that EVGA *superclock* so that's probably a binned GPU too. But anyways I stand by that you should go for the G1 for other reasons such as high thermal dissipation I think it is, quiet fans (check this though) and nice backplate.

The G1 will get much higher overclocks on average giving you better performance.

Since I won't be doing any heavy OCing, I'll just go with the EVGA card (cheaper). Thanks again people.
