What resolution do you play at? the 980 IS better, and you will probably not be able to sell it for the amount you bought if for so you will lose money

 

also you will get worse performance in games that do not support SLI

You already have it, I suggest keeping it.

1080 at the moment but planning to go to 1440... I bought it for $613 might be able to sell it for $568...might as well just buy a ssd instead

Then 2 overclocked 970s are going to beat 1 980 at 1440P

But why do you NEED sli? a single 980 will get 60fps in almost every game at 1440p

 

and in a game with no SLI you will get lower performance

Maybe I just want to try to have that kind of setup but nah i would follow you're advice anyways do you think plextor m6s is better than crucial mx100?

I can get both models of 126gb for $90 USD(after convention) it's either plextor m6s or crucial mx100 but i could get a mx100 256gb for $120
